Haryana Shaken by Earthquakes 17 Times This Year

Haryana has experienced a noticeable rise in seismic activity this year, with 17 earthquake tremors recorded across different districts. Although most of these earthquakes were of low to moderate intensity, their repeated occurrence has raised concern among residents and experts alike.

According to seismic data, the tremors were felt in several parts of the state, including areas close to the Delhi–NCR region, which lies in a sensitive seismic zone. In many cases, people reported feeling sudden vibrations, shaking of doors and windows, and mild panic, especially during night hours. However, no major loss of life or widespread property damage has been reported so far.

Experts explain that Haryana falls under Seismic Zones III and IV, making it prone to earthquakes. The frequent tremors indicate ongoing tectonic movement beneath the region. Seismologists have advised authorities and citizens to remain alert and focus on earthquake preparedness, including adherence to building safety norms and awareness about emergency responses.

The state disaster management authorities have urged people not to panic, emphasizing that minor earthquakes help release underground energy gradually. Still, they recommend staying informed and following safety guidelines during any seismic activity.

With earthquake incidents becoming more frequent, the need for strong infrastructure, public awareness, and disaster readiness has become increasingly important for Haryana.
